Mary T. (Shea) Montalto

1933 ∼ 2019

BOURNE- Mary T. (Shea) Montalto passed away peacefully at her home with her sons by her side on February 27, 2019. Born in Wellesley, Massachusetts on April 19, 1933 to the late George and Isabella Shea.

Aside from her parents, Mary was predeceased by her sister Maureen Shea of Wellesley, MA.  She is survived by her two sons Robert Montalto and his fiancee Jennifer Thomson and Stephen Montalto and his wife Mary-Elizabeth, her brother George Shea and his wife Priscilla, her sister Kathleen Shea, her grandchildren Nicholas, Kerry, Matthew, Samantha (Sam), Cory, Alexis, Lawren as well as many nieces and nephews.

Upon graduating from the Academy of the Assumption in Wellesley, Mary went to work for John Hancock Mutual Life Ins. in Boston where she remained for 45 years.  During those years she would volunteer her services annually at the Boston Marathon and her passion and love for the annual race was known by all who knew her.

Mary moved to Cape Cod upon retirement and immediately went to work for the Chamber of Commerce in Bourne as well as joining as many activities as she could find (Knitting Club, Breakfast Club, Book Club,  etc).  Mary enjoyed conversation with any and all who walked by her.  As her brother always said about his sister “It didn’t matter who you were… to her, you were a King or a Queen”.  She enjoyed spending time at the beach, time at the canal and time with her family.  She was extremely proud of her grandchildren.

Service and burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to VNA of Cape Cod-Hospice, 434 Route 134, Suite D3, South Dennis, MA 02660.
