Merrick (Rick) Rand Jones, V, passed away on June 25, 2018 at the age of 55 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Quincy and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Merrick Jones and Patricia (Inglis) Jones of Brockton. Rick resided in Bridgewater with Paula (Chaves), his loving wife of 33 years, and was the adoring father of Meghan and Britney. Rick is also survived by his brothers, Kevin Jones, and his wife, Patti; Brian, Chris and his wife, Thaissa; and sisters Allison, and Erica and her fiancée, Kevin, his mother and father-in-law, John and Maria Chaves, his sister-in-law, Aida Bryett, and many loving nieces, nephews, friends and family, including Will and Linda Snow, Joe and Sanza Curvelo, and Scott and Linda May.
Rick was employed at Radio Frequency in Millis for almost thirty years, where he worked his way up from Shop Technician to Senior Operations Manager. His coworkers will remember him for his dedication and sense of humor, and will miss him dearly. He was a man of a thousand hobbies who enjoyed deer hunting, golfing, taking photos at social gatherings, and iron forging. Rick was a world traveler who was able to visit all fifty states, took trips throughout Europe and Asia, and particularly liked the Azores and Key West. He loved spending summer days on Swift’s Beach in Wareham, hiking Franconia Notch in the White Mountains, and was the person to have by your side if you were ever lost in the woods. Nicknamed “Merrica,” Rick loved all things made in America, as well as all bacon, and anything with truffle.
