Michael Aaron Pernick, 27, of Marstons Mills, passed away on December 31, 2017 in Portland, ME. He was the loving son of Matthew and Catherine (McGarvin) Pernick.
Michael was a graduate of Barnstable High School and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. During his senior year of College Michael did an internship with the Barnstable Police Dept. Upon graduation, he lived and worked in Boston and then Washington D.C. before he bravely decided to join the U.S. Navy serving on the John C. Stennis Aircraft Carrier as a Mass Communication Specialist. He had completed a ten month deployment in the South Pacific seeing many ports. When asked about his favorite spots he had been to, Michael would always say, coming home to Massachusetts was his top choice. Traveling allowed him to appreciate where he was from.
Michael loved playing Football, Baseball, Hiking the Pacific Northwest and staying close to his high school friends. He enjoyed his own dogs and dog watching for friends in the Navy when they requested. Most of all Michael was extremely loving and loyal to his family and many friend he made along his journey. Michael’s intelligent wit and sense of humor made him fun to be around. He will be missed more than words could express.
