Michael James Prokop

Michael James Prokop, 25, of Taunton, died Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton unexpectedly.

Born in Wareham, he was the son of James E. Prokop of Taunton and Anna (LaPorta) Prokop of Wareham.

Michael graduated from Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School and worked as a landscaper for Greener Horizon in Middleboro.

He loved sports and playing with his son Abel.

Michael is survived by his son, Abel James Prokop of Taunton, his parents, James E. Prokop of Taunton and Anna (LaPorta) Prokop of Wareham; his sister, Brittany Rose Prokop of Quincy; his paternal grandparents, James and Mary Prokop of S. Boston; his aunts, Maria LaPorta of Wareham, Grace LaPorta of Mashpee and Marianne Prokop of S. Boston.  Also surviving are his cousins, Christina and Joseph Barrett of Wareham, and Dillon and Gabrielle Probert of Mashpee.  He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, the late Rosa and Giuseppe LaPorta.

His funeral will be from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick’s Church, High Street, Wareham at 11 AM.  Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.  Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 – 6 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Child of Michael Prokop Fund c/o Eastern Bank, 225 Main Street, Wareham, MA 02571.
