Mr. David Ford, of West Yarmouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Littleton Massachusetts on Thursday, January 31, 2019. He was 77 years young.
David was born in Attleboro Massachusetts in 1941, he was the oldest of three children born to the late Kenneth W. and Carol E. (Chace) Ford, and moved to Watertown Massachusetts after college to start his family.
He married Cambridge native Dorothy (Gaffney) Ford and the couple lived in Watertown, Scituate, and Stow before retiring to Cape Cod. They enjoyed forty four years together before Dorothy passed in 2010. Throughout their time together, David was her caregiver, friend, and companion.
David worked as a systems engineer for Honeywell and Bull, revolutionizing the way we live in modern times. In 2001 David was able to take advantage of an early retirement option, to comfort Dorothy, during her difficult illness, and enjoy their final years on Cape Cod. David enjoyed warm sunny days on the sandy beaches of Nantucket Sound where he would do his long lap swims between the buoys. He was an avid reader and researcher who spent endless days at local libraries. He loved music of all genres and especially enjoyed listening to jazz loudly on Sunday mornings on his back porch. But most of all, David loved his daughter and grandchildren, and the joy of sharing Cape Cod with them. His generosity with them had no boundaries.
David leaves his daughter, Kimberly A. Delaney. and her husband, Mark, of Acton, his grandchildren, Alanna, Cathryn “Cara” and William; his brother Richard W. Ford of East Amherst NY; his sister Meredith Mombourquette and her husband Paul of Monson MA, his sister-in-law Sally Gaffney of Scarborough Maine, many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
Family and friends are invited to remember David and visit at the home of Kimberly and Mark Delaney in Acton Massachusetts on Saturday, February 9th from 1pm to 3pm.
The Family will have a private interment.
