Muriel Arlene Wright Curtis passed away peacefully at Royal Megansett in North Falmouth on July 6. She was born in North Falmouth on July 29, 1925, and was pre-deceased by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Muriel was married for 57 years to the late Theron Smith Curtis, Jr., and had two children, Jane Smith Curtis of Menauhant, East Falmouth; and John Theron Curtis (wife Jennifer) of North Grafton and Menauhant.

She graduated from Lawrence High School in Falmouth in 1944, and won the Miss Lawrencian award. Subsequently, she graduated from the Williams Business School in Brockton, MA.

While living in Barrington, RI, Muriel volunteered for the Republican Women in RI, and was a member of the Barrington Garden Club, Barrington Yacht Club and the Congregational Church. In Hingham, MA she was a member of the Hingham Garden Club and Hingham Yacht Club. Retiring with her husband, Smitty, to Menauhant, Muriel volunteered at the Falmouth VNA, Falmouth Hospital and town blood drives. She was a member of the Falmouth Garden Club, where she won many awards for her floral arrangements; and was a member of the First Congregational Church. Muriel enjoyed tennis and Nantucket basket weaving for many years.

Muriel and her family gratefully appreciate the warmth and caring that she received at Royal Megansett and Hospice. Our Mother was the joy of our family, and we thank all of her friends who share their wonderful memories of her good works.

Married at Grace Memorial Chapel in Menauhant, she was a board member of the Chapel in later years. She was devoted to the chapel, and to honor her memory, her family welcomes donations to Grace Chapel, P.O. Box 425, East Falmouth, MA 02536. Burial will be private.
