Myles J. Ferrick

Myles J. “Bud” Ferrick, 89, of Forestdale, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 after a brief illness. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marjorie (O’Hearn) Ferrick. Born in Boston to Myles J. and Anne (Doherty) Ferrick.

Myles was a 1943 graduate of Medford High School. He served in the US Marine Corp during WWII from 1943-1945 and was a Purple Heart recipient after being injured in Iwo Jima.  He later graduated from Bates College in 1950 and worked as an insurance broker for DFM Insurance until his retirement.

Myles started summering in Falmouth from 1931-1969, when he moved permanently to the Cape. He lived in Falmouth until 2014, before moving in with his son and his family. He was part of the beginning stages of the Gosnold Treatment Center. He was a very generous person who always helped out others in need.

He is survived by his son Myles Jr. and his wife Marsha and their children Glen and Myles III of Forestdale; his sister, Mary Lewis of Falmouth; many nieces and nephews; and his longtime companion, Kate Washburn of Scituate, and her two sons, David and Brian Washburn.

Visiting hours will be held from 9-11 am on Saturday, Sep 26 at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main St, FALMOUTH CENTER; followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN  38105 or the McCarthy Care Center, 73 Service Road, East Sandwich, MA, 02537.
