Myron P. Hanson, age 95 died unexpectedly on October 28, 2020 at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis from complications following a fall outside his home.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothea (Dotty) Hanson. The couple lived in Yarmouth Port for almost 30 years. Myron sang as a tenor in the First Congregational Church of Yarmouth Port for many years. He was previously a member of the Branford Connecticut Congregational Church Choir as well as choirs in Portland, Maine. Music and singing were a very big part of his life.
A WW II veteran, Myron was a member of the Army Air Corps Aviation Cadet Program and continued to be interested in aircraft for the rest of his life. A graduate of Wellesley, MA High School, Myron later became very active in the class of ’44 reunion committee.
Myron graduated from the University of New Hampshire in Durham where he met Dotty. They were married in 1950 and settled in Maine where Myron became a Parole Officer for the Maine Dept of corrections. Myron continued his career as a Parole Officer in Connecticut, settling in the coastal town of Branford.
Myron is survived by his three children, Daniel W. Hanson (Janet) of Seattle, WA; Clifford M. Hanson (Winnie) of Norwell, MA and Kristin H. Lindell (John) of Ravensdale, WA. Myron is also survived by six grandchildren: Kristine Hanson, Clifford J. Hanson, Keyan Hanson, Kendra Lindell, Jaima L. Hughes and Julia Hanson, and by great-grandchild Marlowe Hanson-Lambrinos. He will also be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Myron is predeceased by older siblings Lillian White Winternitz, John F. Hanson and Dana S. Hanson. His parents were Grace Hendersen Hanson and Winland Claflin Hanson of Wellesley.
Myron will always be remembered for his wonderful tenor voice, his sense of Humor, quick wit and warm, helpful nature.
A graveside service will take place in summer or fall of 2021. Condolences may be sent to Dotty Hanson in Yarmouth Port.
