Neill Linwood Bovaird, Sr.

1948 ∼ 2018

Neill Linwood Bovaird, Sr.

Neill Linwood Bovaird Sr., 69 of East Falmouth, Massachusetts died February 6, 2018 of leukemia, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband/”boyfriend” of Jadwiga (Zagajeski) Bovaird to whom he was married for almost 45 years.

Neill was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada in 1948, and moved to the United States when he was 5. He was the son of the late Ruth and Arthur Bovaird. He was part of the first graduating class from Burncoat High School in Worcester. After high school he met and married the love of his life, Jad, and they moved to Auburn, Massachusetts where they lived for 28 years. Neill worked at Digital Equipment Corporation (Compaq/Hewlett Packard) as a Global Distribution and Logistics Manager and retired in 2008 after 24 years. They traveled extensively and split their time between Frye Island, Cape Cod and Florida.

In 1986 Neill and Jad built their dream summer home on Frye Island in Maine. Some of his proudest accomplishments there were clearing the land and building the house with his own two hands, creating the Frye Island wave in 1987, and pulling a 30” salmon out of the Lake in 2016.

He loved fishing on Sebago Lake, playing poker with his friends, traveling the world, drinking fine wine, cooking, and most of all entertaining people. In addition, he was an accomplished wood carver and a proud 32° Mason. But most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. Those that knew him best will always remember the legacy he left – he lived life to the fullest every day, he had the most positive attitude and outlook on life, he found humor in everything, and he had an incredibly generous heart. He was an inspiration to us all.

In addition to his devoted and loving wife, Jad, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Heather and Robert Lakatos of Mashpee, MA, Lindsey Hinrichs of Lake Oswego, OR, and Neill and Amy Bovaird of Montague, MA; his 7 grandchildren, Camron, Annika, Riis, Beck, Gavin, Graylin, and Kinsel; his brothers Craig Bovaird and his wife Elaine of Princeton, MA and Wayde Bovaird and his wife Janet of Holden, MA. He also leaves his extended family whom he loved dearly and many wonderfully devoted friends.

Visiting hours will be Monday, February 12 from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave (off Route 151), Mashpee, MA, 02649.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 13 at 11:00 am at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave (off Route 151), Mashpee, MA, 02649.  Burial is private.
