Bourne - Nicolas Alex Richardson, 36, of Bourne passed away suddenly on April 1, 2017.
Born in South Korea, Nic moved to the U.S. as a young child. He was raised primarily on Staten Island, NY by his mother Pokcha and stepfather Walter Grell. Nic graduated from Evanston High School in Evanston, Wyoming while living with his father, Lon Richardson.
After high school, Nic attended Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, for a year-and-a-half. He returned to Staten Island after his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. He then worked as a restaurant cook for several years while attending culinary school, and was part-owner of the Skybox Lounge for several years.
Nic enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 2004 and served for 9 years, stationed at the Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va., where he worked in avionics. Nic did three tours of duty overseas, one in Iraq and two in Afghanistan before retiring.
After the service, on a tip from a Navy friend, Nic landed a job at Hydroid in Pocasset as a field service technician, which brought him to Cape Cod. During his time at Hydroid, Nic showed a talent for operating, maintaining and repairing some of the more specialized and unusual vehicles. His work there included deployments to customer sites worldwide.
Nic recently began a new job at Griffin Avionics in Hyannis, offering avionics support for regional air carriers and recreational aircraft.
A family man and self-proclaimed movie buff, Nic enjoyed gardening, entertaining friends and family with his culinary abilities, and watching movies.
In addition to his parents, Nic is survived by his girlfriend Priscilla “Buzzy” McLaughlin of Bourne and their son Damian; daughter Cheyanne Richardson of Staten Island, from his first marriage to Cynthia Rhodes; daughters Kailynn and Alexis Richardson of Virginia Beach, from his second marriage to Michelle Swedlund; sisters, Dawn Richardson of Staten Island, Jessica Richardson of Evanston Wyoming and Crystal Richardson of Rock Springs,Wyoming; and brother Jedidiah Richardson of Fort Bridger, Wyoming.
Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Bourne on Friday, June 16, at 9:45 am. Friends and family will be invited to a celebration of life to follow later in the day.
