Norman Edgar Gaudette, 79, of South Yarmouth MA passed away on January 7, 2019 after a long and courageous battle with cancer and complications due to pneumonia.
Norman was born in Southbridge, MA the son of Catharine (Osowski) Gaudette and Edgar Gaudette. He grew up in Worcester, MA on Vernon Hill and attended Boys Trade. A man with a great sense of humor, he and his fellow friends, in their teens, thought it might be fun to bunny hopped across main street stopping traffic! A story, he loved telling and we enjoyed hearing. His sense of humor and courage were what helped him fight so hard for so many years as he battled many different forms of cancer. Always with a quiet strength.
Norman worked as a Rolls Royce Restoration Specialist in N. Brookfield MA at The Vintage Garage for many years and later at Sports Classics in Brookfield MA. His work in the classic automobile restoration field was his pride and joy. His love for cars began early in his life which also included drag racing hot rods on the streets of Worcester. His passion and incredible knowledge of cars was impressive and he became well known and respected throughout the industry. His work brought him to numerous Rolls Royce Meets throughout the country. He was an avid reader of technical journals, historical and both fiction and non-fiction. His favorite place to visit was the beach with his family. Many a wonderful memory were made with him and his family at the beaches in Rhode Island and Cape Cod. After retirement he and his wife, Anita, moved to So. Yarmouth where they could be near the ocean that they both loved so much and where they both enjoyed visits from family and friends.
Norman is survived by his wife Anita (Bjork) Gaudette and his 5 Children; Trisha Daige of Leicester, Kenneth Gaudette of Charlton, Danielle Steiger of Oxford, Bobbie Constanzo of Bellingham and Norman Gaudette of North Brookfield. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren; Ken Bjork of Tolland, CT, Jonathan Daige of Worcester, Rachael Benoit of Leicester, Michael Best of Oxford, Joshua, Jeremy and Victoria Gaudette, Evy Gaudette of Dover, OH; Nicholas, Gabrielle and Katharine Constanzo of Bellingham and Felicity Steiger of Oxford. He also leaves behind 3 Great Grandchildren; Connor Bjork, Jackson and Sabrina Benoit. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews and a surviving brother in law, Richard Cassidy of Worcester, MA.
Norman is preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Frykberg and his sister’s Rita Cassidy, Cecilia Mirabella and Theresa Hughes.
