Olive (Jewkes) DiRienzo, of Marstons Mills, died at Cape Regency in Centerville on June 7, 2018, surrounded by her family.
Born on March 29, 1930 in Norwood, Massachusetts. Olive was the daughter of the late James Henry Jewkes and Olive Purinton Jewkes. She was very proud of her Irish heritage.
She married the love of her life, Joseph M. DiRienzo, when he returned from service in the US Marines. They settled in Walpole and raised their warm and loving family of eight. Family was sacred to Olive.
Following Joe’s retirement in 1993, Joe and Ollie moved to Cape Cod to live with her daughter, Olive Chase, and her family. Their home, in Marstons Mills, became the gathering place for many memorable family events, especially Christmas Eve gatherings with as many as 75!
She enjoyed several years as a beloved fixture in the office of her daughter’s company, The Casual Gourmet. Olive was an accomplished quilter and devoted doll collector. She enjoyed practicing the art of quilting with her dearest friends, especially Carol, at Tumbleweed Quilts in West Barnstable.
She was heartbroken by the loss of her husband, Joe, in 2009. The two were inseparable and the glint of love always shined in their eyes.
Olive is survived by her daughters, Olive Chase and her husband Dave, Ruth Donnelly and her husband Thomas, Mary Lyons; her daughter-in-law, Tracy DiRienzo; her sons, Daniel DiRienzo and his wife Pamela, Robert DiRienzo and his wife Andrea, Thomas DiRienzo and his wife Lisa, and William DiRienzo and his wife LeeAnn. Her sisters, Jaqueline Jewkes and Eleanor Diorio; her brother James Jewkes Jr.; and sister-in-law, Alice DiRienzo. Olive is also survived by twenty-four cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, known to all as The Cousins.
She was predeceased by her son, Joseph DiRienzo Jr.; sister Virginia Sullivan; and sister-in-law Gloria Ciallella.
