Dorothy Patricia “Pat” Croston

Dorothy Patricia “Pat” Croston of Osterville MA and formerly of Winchester MA, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on October 9, 2019 at the age of 88. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, William. She is survived by four children: William of Hyannis, MA; Robert and his wife Elizabeth of Osterville, MA; David and his wife Kelly of Portsmouth, RI; Kimberley and her husband Marty of Westborough, MA. She is also survived by four beloved grandchildren: Brittany, Jamie, Victoria and William. She will be remembered for her selfless devotion to her children, grandchildren and faith.

Born in Boston to Robert and Mary MacLellan, she is survived by four loving and supportive sisters: Eleanor MacLellan RSCJ, Catherine Okeeffe, Virginia Fettig, and Grace MacLellan. Pat graduated from Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart, Manhattanville College and Boston Teachers College with her master’s degree in teaching. She taught first grade before dedicating her life to family. Pat found her way back to the classroom later in life, teaching in the Barnstable Public Schools for many years. 

Her faith and a dedication to children guided her life. She taught CCD at St. Mary’s in Winchester and later Our Lady of the Assumption in Osterville for many generations and was an avid supporter of children’s activities, especially the junior golf program at the Oyster Harbors Club. She was a fixture on the Tim’s Cove beach each summer, serving the beach as mother to all.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 18th at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 76 Wianno Avenue, Osterville MA at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to Our Lady of Assumption Church, 76 Wianno Avenue, Osterville, MA 02655.
