Peter J. Calabria, Sr.

Peter J. Calabria, Sr., 89, of Mashpee, passed away unexpectedly on September 12, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Agnes M. (Tirrell) Calabria, for whom he shared 66 wonderful years of marriage together.

Peter was born on June 8, 1931 to the late Joseph and Mary (Atturio) Calabria in Cambridge, MA. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and was very proud to have served his country in the Korean War. Peter met the love of his life, Agnes, at a roller-skating rink where he affectionately told friends and family, she picked him up… after falling. The two married and raised their family in Maynard, MA. In 1993, the couple retired to Cape Cod.

Peter was a hobbyist and enjoyed building model airplanes. He enjoyed fishing, particularly he loved being by the canal. Peter enjoyed playing golf and could be often found on the course. He even worked for several years during his retirement at the golf club at Willowbend Country Club. More than anything, Peter was a loving husband, father, papa, and friend and will be greatly missed by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In addition to his beloved wife, Agnes, Peter is survived by his son Peter Calabria, Jr., and his fiancé, Bonnie, of Hudson, MA; his daughter, Tina Jerrier, of Laconia, NH; his four granddaughters, Dannika, Bethany, Maya, and Hayden; his five great grandchildren; and his sister Linda Ostrowski.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. (RTE 151), in Mashpee. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 12:30 PM in the funeral home. A burial will follow at 2:00 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, in Bourne.
