Priscilla “Cilla” R. (Bendell) Andrews, age 83, of Bridgewater, died peacefully on February 22, 2021. Priscilla was born and raised in Brockton, MA. She was a graduate of Brockton High School Class of 1955. She was married to the late Chester H. Andrews. She was a loving mother to her daughters Donna L. Andrews of Bridgewater and Jill A. Getchell and husband Thomas of Whitman. She was also “Grammie” to Alexia Andrews and Molly and Chelsea Getchell. She leaves her brothers Ernest Bendell, Jr. of VA, Donald Bendell of FL, and the late David Bendell of VA. She leaves a dear cousin, Eldon Bendell, Jr., and his wife Maggie of VA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she had special relationships with.
Priscilla worked for many years as a medical secretary in Middleboro where she loved her connection to the patients. In her younger years she loved camping and also volunteered with Bridgewater Girl Scouts. Later she had a long career of service with the Bridgewater Lions and Bridgewater Academy Lions Clubs. Her service was recognized by her receipt of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. She loved travelling all over the USA as well as an annual trip to Bermuda for over 20 years along with many trips to see the Red Sox play from Baltimore to Toronto. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and quilting and many of her afghans and other projects are still treasured by her family and friends. She had many lifelong friendships including Edna & Connie who were childhood friends and in her wedding, The Crazy Girls; Dorothy, Maxine & Barbara who were there for all the important life events, Mary Jane – her Red Sox pal, her partner in crime Carole, Debbie who always made her smile and laugh and of course Vale and Doug with all their shared Lions adventures and travels.
She would tell you her most important accomplishment was being the beloved “Grammie” to her three granddaughters – from shared trips to Disneyworld, to special birthday celebrations each year, sleepovers, many recitals and shows. She loved her Friday FaceTime sessions and weekly text messages throughout their years in college to keep up with their adventures.
A wake will be held on Monday, March 1st from 10:00AM-12:00PM at Prophett-Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford Street, Bridgewater. A private funeral service will be held at 12:00PM. Burial will immediately follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, 483 N Main Street in West Bridgewater.
