Raymond A. Benkart

MIDDLEBORO -  Raymond A. Benkart, 73, of Middleboro, died Oct. 28, 2020 at home while surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband to Joan M. (Webber) Benkart for 21 years and the son of the late Raymond A. Benkart and Alma L. (Boyce) Benkart.

He was born in Boston and lived in Middleboro for 19 years.  He graduated from Canton High School.

Mr. Benkart worked as a lineman for Verizon Telephone Company for 36 years before retiring in 2001. After retiring, he worked for Halifax Country Club.

He enjoyed golfing and won club championships at multiple golf courses. He was a Little League coach in Stoughton, Middleboro and Taunton for many years and known as “Coach Pa”.

Survivors include his wife, Joan M. (Webber) Benkart; children Kim Bailey and husband Bruce Bailey of Middleboro, Lisa DeAngelis and husband David DeAngelis of Middleboro, Raymond Benkart and wife Tricia Benkart of Taunton, Brian Benkart of Bellingham; 9 grandchildren; Corey, Kyle, and Troy Bailey, Ryan, Jack and Emma Deutsch, Andrew, Colin and Emily Benkart a brother, Charles Benkart of Florida and  his sister, Donna St. Peter of Wareham.  He was the brother of the late Richard Benkart.

Visiting hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham. (Appropriate COVID-19 protocol will be observed including the use of face masks, social distancing and wait times in line due to temporary limited capacity).

His funeral is being held privately.
