Richard A. Oakley

1952 ∼ 2018

Richard A. Oakley, 66, of Wareham, MA, passed away suddenly at Cape Cod Hospital on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Richard was the loving husband of his dearly departed wife of 40 years, Luisa Oakley. He was the son of the late Wilbur A. Oakley and Hazel A. (Peters) Oakley.

Richard is survived by his two stepchildren Melissa Harding Ferretti of Bourne, MA, and Harry Harding of Mashpee, MA; his siblings, Bette Oakley, Patricia Oakley, Dale Oakley, all of Mashpee, MA, and Shirlee Oakley of Centerville, MA; his grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Richard was predeceased by his brother Paul A. Mills.

Richard retired from the Town of Mashpee Highway Department for which he worked for over 30 years. Richard was an active member of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. He graduated from the Barnstable Vocational High School with a Marine Mechanics trade. Richard and Luisa enjoyed going to the Newport Jazz Festival very year with his family and close friends Chucky and June. More than anything he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. (Off Rte. 151), Mashpee. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 12:00pm.
