Richard J. Olsen

Richard J. Olsen, 79, of Demarest NJ and Teaticket, MA, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Catherine F. (Lynch) Olsen for 57 years. He was born in New York, NY to Louis and Evelyn (Anderson) Olsen.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Rick and Chris Olsen, his daughter-in-law Elizabeth Clark Olsen, his brother Bill Olsen and his wife Melody, and his beloved grandchildren, Anna and Clark.

Richard was the Assistant Superintendent of the NJ Palisades Interstate Park Commission for 40 years and a Navy Seabee veteran. He graduated from Paul Smith College with a degree in forestry and a degree in engineering from Fairleigh Dickenson University. He was always athletic; an outdoorsman and avid skier, fisherman and tennis player.

Visiting hours will be held from 10:30-11:30am on Monday, Sep. 16th at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth, with a funeral service to follow at 11:30am in the funeral home. Interment will be at the Oak Grove Cemetery, Jones Road, Falmouth. A repast will be held following the burial at the home of Chris and Elizabeth in Falmouth.
