Richard M. Salvaggio

Richard M. Salvaggio, 95, of Osterville, formerly of Needham, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 3, 2020.

Richard was born and raised in Needham, Massachusetts. Richard was a graduate of Needham High School, where he was the individuals state wrestling champion.

Richard joined the U.S. Army and served in World War II in the European theater. He returned home from the war and married the love of his life, Madeline Graceffa. Together, Madeline and Richard raised their eight children in Needham Ma. Richard worked as a Production Manager for Saint Regis Paper Co. for 38 years. They moved to Osterville, MA on Cape Cod in 1976. He was a dedicated member of the Osterville Horticultural Society where he volunteered for many years. Richard was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption parish in Osterville.

Richard is survived by Madeline, his beloved wife of 73 years. Richard is also survived by his eight children: Carol Beals and her husband Rob, Richard Salvaggio and his wife Irina, Paul Salvaggio and his wife Susan, Lynne Cain and her husband Michael, Brian Salvaggio and his husband Tim Eagan, Alan Salvaggio and his wife Teresa, Joe Salvaggio, Don Salvaggio and his wife Beth. Grandchildren include Amanda and Alison Beals, Paul Salvaggio, Chris Ramirez, Benjamin Cain, Nicole Saunders and her husband Brian, Evan Salvaggio, Brooke Salvaggio, Joel Salvaggio, Ashley Lambert, and great-granddaughter Vivian Eve Saunders.

Visiting hours will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Thursday, Januarth 9th at the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd., Marstons Mills, MA.  A funeral mass will be held on Friday, January 10 at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, 76 Wianno Ave., Osterville, MA. Interment will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
