Dick was born January 24, 1935 in Sutton, MA, son of the late Rita (Lavallee) and Samuel Mongeau. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School in 1953, where he studied to become a machinist. Upon graduation he worked as a machinist, then began his career of more than forty years as an aircraft mechanic and inspector in the Massachusetts Army National Guard. Dick and his family moved to Falmouth in 1974. He was an active member of St. Patrick’s church where he sang in the choir.
He retired in 1995, enjoying golf, travelling with Lillian and attending Patriots games as a long time season ticket holder. He was a member of the Greater Falmouth Community Chorus for more than 25 years.
Dick found joy in his family throughout his life. He married Lillian, his high school sweetheart, and worked tirelessly to provide for their children. He was a vocal supporter of Falmouth sports, spending years on the sidelines watching his children participate in football, track, lacrosse and pep squad. With his children grown, he proudly supported his grandchildren with the same enthusiasm during their sporting, dance and theatre events.
