Centerville--Richard "Dick" Farley, 87, of Centerville passed away peacefully on October 25, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Dick was born in Natick, MA to John and Frances (Mulqueeny) Farley in 1931. He attended St. Patrick's Parochial School and graduated from Natick High School. In 1953, he graduated from Boston College with a degree in Economics. Later that Fall, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Mary Musgrave.
He also served in the 305th Military Government Unit in Boston for 3 years.
While in Natick, Dick was an officer in the Knights of Columbus and the Benevolent Order of Elks. After moving to Marshfield in 1959, he became an officer in the Kiwanis Club and helped organize the first Key Club. In 1966, the family moved to Cape Cod. He was very active in Our Lady of Victory parish as a member of St. Vincent de Paul and the Parish Council for many years. He was also involved in the Cursillo and ECHO programs. In 2002, Dick was presented the Marian Medal Award from the diocese of Fall River. He was a longtime member of the BC Club of Cape Cod.
Dick was employed for 40 years by Grossman's Lumber Company as Contractor Sales Manager of New England.
He loved sports of all kinds, routing for the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, Celtics and BC teams. Dick's greatest joy was spending time with his family sharing food, drink, laughter, music and song.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of 65 years. His children: Pam Farley (partner Tim), Rick Farley (Kathleen), Kathy Powers, Maureen Scott (Kevin) and Jean D'Olimpio (Jamie). His grandchildren: Justin (Liz), Jennifer (fiancé Lou) and Joey D'Olimpio; Chris Farley; Kelsey, Sarah (partner Ryan) and Jillian Thomas; and Siobhan and Ryan Scott.
His great-grandchild: Mila McAllister and soon to be born baby girl D'Olimpio.
He was predeceased by his loving son, Kevin Farley; son-in-law Bill Powers; his brother, John "Buddy" Farley; his sisters and their spouses Janet and Fred Parent; and Rita and John "Daz" Clark.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jaclyn Flanigan, Dr. Daniel Canaday and the nursing staff at Cape Cod Hospital Oncology and the North 3 units for their expertise, kindness and support.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Our Lady of Victory Church on Friday Nov. 2 at 11:00am. Visiting hours in the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, 3778 Falmouth Rd. (RT28) Marstons Mills on Thursday from 4-7PM. Burial to follow in St. Frances Xavier Cemetery.
