Rita Bridget (Rynne) Murray, 101, passed away peacefully at Falmouth Hospital on January 2, 2021. She was the loving wife of the late William F. Murray Jr. and daughter of the late Michael and Bridget Rynne.
Rita was born and raised in Cambridge, Ma where she and her husband lived for many wonderful years. She and her husband moved to Stoughton where they raised their family. She worked at the Polaroid Company for twenty years. She loved using the many different types of cameras when she was at family gatherings. She especially loved taking pictures of her grandchildren. Rita and Bill retired to Mashpee in 1984. Their house became the family gathering place for vacations or just a day at the beach.
Rita was an active member of the Christ the King Church in Mashpee. She was especially proud of her Irish Heritage and was an avid reader up until she passed away. She loved watching sports such as the New England Patriot and especially loved watching her favorite team, the Boston Bruins. Most of all, Rita loved being a mother and she considered her eight grandchildren gifts. Her family will miss her roast beef dinner, chocolate chip cookies, sense of humor and words of wisdom.
Rita is survived by four children, Mary Arrighi and husband Al of Edgewater, MD, Karen Burke and husband Andrew of Brockton, Theresa Hagerty and husband Donald of Canton, Bill Murray and wife Jill of Sandwich, 8 Grandchildren Andy Burke and wife Amanda of Plymouth, Erin Magnani and husband Jason of Halifax, Michelle Johnson and husband Steve of Gwynedd Valley, PA, Jeanette Johnson and husband Patrick of Edgwater, MD, Timothy Hagerty and wife Heather of El Paso, TX, Paul Hagerty of Norwood, MA, Michael Hagerty and wife Aura or Norwell, Ma, Christina Murray of Daytona, FL. Rita is also survived by nine great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings, Catherine, Joseph, John, Teresa, Mary, Benard, Elizabeth, and Paul.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Parish 3 Job’s Fishing Rd. Mashpee on Thursday January 7, 2021 at 11:00am. Burial will follow in Sandwich Town Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Christ the King Parish St. Jude’s Chapel Renovation P.O. Box 1800 Mashpee, Ma 02649.
