Robert (Bobby) E. Gaylord Sr., 77 passed away peacefully on Nov 27th after a long illness surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby was born in Worcester, MA on 8/4/1942 to a well known prominent family. Bobby was raised with his brother Delbert (Pudgie) by their mother Marjorie, who went on to marry Haywood Hampton. Bobby attended Worcester public schools and was active at his local Baptist Church. Bobby being the rough and tumble that he was made the change and moved to Cape Cod in the early 60's for new opportunities.
Bobby met and married Helen Amado in 1961. Of this union came his children, Bobby Jr, Nellie Lynne and Scottie. Bobby was a talented auto body/ detailed technician, as well as a respected mechanic. His love was racing to include the horse and dog races. Bobby often attended the horse races with his long time best friends, Manny Brito Sr. and Leno Mendes Sr. as they owned horses. He also attended with his life long to this day best friend Nat Tobey. Bobby's true love was for his family. His joy was to see his grand and great grandchildren in his lifetime. A true lover of westerns and old movies, his guilty pleasure was his daytime reality shows.
Bobby is pre-deceased by his parents, Marjorie L. Hampton (Gaylord) and Haywood Hampton and brother, Delbert L. Gaylord. Bobby is survived by his wife, Helen M. (Amado) Gaylord . His children, Robert E. Gaylord Jr., Nellie Lynne (McDowell) husband Dale, and Scott A. Gaylord. His grandchildren, Kyle R. and Marcus W. McDowell, and Nicolette L. Gaylord. Great grandchildren, Marius L.and Marco A. McDowell. Sisters in law Elsie Reed and Eva Corriea. Special niece/caretaker, Shirley Amado. Best friend, Nathaniel Tobey. Special cousins Diane Dickerson and Beverly Brown. A host of nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Daniel Canady, MD and staff, Linda Habeeb, MD and staff and VNA/Hospice.
Visiting hours are on Dec 3rd from 4-7pm at Morris, O'Connor and Blute, 678 Main Street, Harwich, MA and funeral service is on Dec 4th at 11am at the Zion Union Church, 805 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA.
