Robert E. Blanchard, 77, of Falmouth, MA, died peacefully on April 21, 2020, at home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Marie (Quinlan) for 56 years.
Born in Woburn, MA, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Elizabeth (Hammond) Blanchard.
He grew up and attended school in Wilmington, MA, and began his career working in the family business, Blanchard Motors in Reading, MA, before starting his own heating installation and service company.
He attended Massasoit Community College where he earned an Associate in Science Degree followed by a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master’s Degree in Education at Rhode Island College. He was also inducted into Epsilon Pi Tau, the International Honorary Professional Fraternity for Education in Technology. He taught in the Norfolk County school system for many years.
Bob was a true and dedicated family man and a friend to all who knew him. He was also affectionately known as “The Mayor of Worcester Court“ by many of those he greeted from his porch on their way to the Heights Beach. He enjoyed boating, fishing, lobstering, gardening, woodworking, music and reading.
Along with his wife Marie, he is survived by their daughters Paula Blanchard DeMello and husband Boyd of Falmouth: Sheila Blanchard and fiancé Cortney DuBois of South Yarmouth and five grandchildren: Caitlin, Daniel and Heather of Falmouth: Hope of Nashville, TN and Tyler of Vero Beach, FL. and three great-grandchildren: Braeden, Maren and Cian of Falmouth.
Visiting hours will be held from 10-11am on Thursday, June 25th followed by a funeral service at 11am in the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Jones Road, Falmouth.
