Robert E. Hebden

Robert Edward Hebden, 66, of Mashpee, passed away peacefully at home on November 4th after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his parents Robert M. Hebden, Thelma E. Hebden and Jean P. Hebden.

Bob's early life was spent on Westport Point and Barrington, Rhode Island until the family moved to Falmouth in 1966. He graduated from Tabor Academy in 1972 where he excelled at hockey and lacrosse.  He attended Leicester Junior College.  After a 25 year career as a bartender in Florida, he returned to Cape Cod to settle in Mashpee. He was employed by the Woods Hole, Martha's Vineyard & Nantucket Steamship Authority.  When not working you could find Bob on the golf course; he was a member of the Cape Cod Country Club and Heritage Bay Golf & Country Club in Naples, Florida.  In keeping with the tradition of his grandfather and father his love of fishing and boating was a lifetime passion.

Bob is survived by his fiancé Rita Tosches, her daughter Jamie, husband Brian and grandson Sterling Anderson.  Also surviving are sisters Gail Hebden (James) Roberts of Falmouth and Joan Hebden Fortier of Somerset; nieces Gretchen Roberts Byers and Lily Fortier; nephews Scott (Joanna) Roberts, Chris (Jamie Stone) Roberts, Mason Fortier, Connor Fortier and Reed Fortier.

The family will receive visitors from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8th at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth.
