Robert F. Hannon, 78, of Plymouth, formerly of Sandwich, died on October 31, 2017 while on a cruise in the Mediterranean. He was the loving husband of Carol Ann Hannon and the late Patricia Hannon who died in 2010.
Born in Quincy, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Kathryn (Hughes) Hannon. Bob was a proud of graduate of Boston College, Class of 1961. He was a season ticket holder for BC football for many years after graduating.
Bob began his business career as a pharmaceutical representative. He soon realized his true calling was to help shape the lives of students as he began a teaching career at Dartmouth High School. After helping to initiate the DECA program at Dartmouth High, he accepted a similar teaching position at Sandwich High School until his retirement. He and Pat owned the Ice Cream Sandwich in Sandwich for 30 years.
Bob loved running, golfing, traveling the world and attending all Boston sports. He was a season ticket holder of the Patriot, Celtics and Boston College Football for 40+ years.
Bob enjoyed many happy years with his family and friends at his second home in Hutchinson Island, Florida.
In addition to his wife Carol Ann, Bob is survived by his children, Robert F. Hannon and wife Kathryn of Mystic, CT and Julie Curran and husband William of Sandwich; grandchildren, Zachary and Sarah Hannon and Aidan and Ryan Curran his stepchildren Kathleen Trulby, Karen Harmon and husband William, Jason Trulby, James Trulby and his wife Christine, 5 step grandchildren, Zach Trulby, Max and Lauren Trulby, Alan Flynn, Will Harmon and Morgan Trulby.
Visiting hours will be Monday, November 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 So. Main Street, Centerville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, November 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Victory Church, followed by burial in Sandwich Town Cemetery.
