He leaves a beloved brother Joseph and sisters-in-laws Patricia of Trumbull CT. and Judy Yacko of West Haven CT. Nephews Joseph and Richard (Adrianne) Figmic of CT., John (Heather) Figmic of MA., and Erik (Pam) Yacko of CT. Nieces Marjorie (Bruce) Wilson of SC., Sharon (Mike) O’Sullivan of NY., Roseann (Mike) Lewis and Donna (Paul) Thibault both of CT. as well as many great nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his cherished puppies Scampi and Miss Pickles. He was truly blessed with a loving family.
Before moving from Connecticut to Cape Cod Bob worked for the Town of Trumbull CT. He also worked with his family in their liquor store until it was sold. He retired from the town of Barnstable MA in 2003. After retiring he spent many a snowy night passing on his snow plowing skills to new drivers working for Maffei Landscape. Having the gift of gab and enjoying people he could be found conversing with his many friends, acquaintances and even total strangers while faithful companion and partner Scampi waited in the driver’s seat of the truck. With much knowledge of engines and mechanics Bobs garage door was always open, Floyd Cramer piano music playing in the background, and he was eager to help others with repairs when the opportunity arose. Proud of his home and yard he was often seen on his tractor mowing the lawn and then heading down the street to a neighbor for a session of lawn mowing and conversation. Bob created many cherished memories with son John and neighbors as they worked together completing yard projects year after year both on Cape Cod and at his Walpole, New Hampshire farm.
Family and friends are invited to attend the 11 O’Clock Mass on Sunday January 7th 2018 at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Osterville followed by a memorial celebration at 12 noon at Wimpy’s Restaurant on Main St. in Osterville.
Bob was a great supporter of our nation’s military personnel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his memory to Cape Cod Cares for our Troops in East Harwich or the Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach in Hyannis MA.
