Robert L. Beauchemin (Bob), 75 years old, of West Yarmouth passed away after a brief illness on Thursday August 15, 2019. He was the husband of Karen (Parente) Beauchemin for 50 years. Born in Hartford, CT, Bob was the son of the late Helen and Emile Beauchemin. He was also predeceased by his son Bryan R. Beauchemin and his identical twin brother, Rick.
Besides his wife, Bob is survived by his son Jeremy, daughter-in-law, Melissa and the light of his life his two beautiful Granddaughters Iris Anne and Eve Marie. He is also survived by his brother Michael Beauchemin and his wife Patty, two sisters, Susan Perron and Anne Calhoun, and sister-in-law Linda Beauchemin. Bob also leaves many nieces and nephews as well as hundreds of friends.
In the early 1960’s, Bob served in the U.S. Navy and upon his discharge, he returned from service to attend Central Connecticut College part time, working towards his degree in accounting. When Karen and he married in August 1969, Bob returned to school full time. He became a Certified Public Accountant by passing the CPA exam in May of 1974.
After the death of their son in 1975, Bob and Karen moved to Cape Cod, and within two weeks of arriving here he started working at the James Bogle, CPA firm where he remained for more than thirty years. He loved being a CPA putting many hours in to help others. He worked his entire life never wanting to retire.
Over the years, Bob made many friends and he enjoyed his time with all of them. In the early 1990’s he became President of the Yarmouth Little League and was also involved with the YD Red Sox as their Treasurer. He and Karen housed players for the YD team for many years and have stayed in contact with many young men that they considered part of their family.
Bob loved to read and travel. He and Karen have visited many places, including Egypt, Japan, China, Russia, New Zealand, Australia and Africa. He was very proud to say that he had visited 43 countries during his years of travels. In Bob’s life there was nothing better than watching a Boston Red Sox or New England Patriot’s game. He enjoyed his time with his family and on most sunny summer days could be found on the beach with Karen.
Calling hours will be held at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Drive, South Yarmouth on Sunday August 18th from 3 – 5 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth on Monday August 19th at 10 AM . Burial will be held at a later date in Connecticut where Bob will join his son Bryan in eternal peace.
