Colonel Robert H. Webster US Army Retired age 62 a resident of East Falmouth died unexpectedly Wednesday February 27th at the Falmouth Hospital. Husband of Nancy J. (Finn) Webster to whom he had been married over 40 years. Born & raised in Boston Colonel Webster attended Saint Gregory's School, graduated from Boston College High School Class of 1957 and from Boston College Class of 1961. He also received two Masters Degrees an MBA from Oklahoma University and a MED from Worcester State College. He served 27 years in the United States ARMY and retired as a Colonel in 1987. During his military career he served two tours in Vietnam and was also stationed in Germany, Hawaii along with two tours of the Pentagon. He was the Professor of Military Science at the University of Notre Dame. His last tour was serving as Deputy Post Commander at the US ARMY Research & Development Center at the Natick Labs. Colonel Webster lived in Natick for several years until moving to Falmouth in 1987.Colonel Webster was wonderful friend and he loved his children, grandchildren, relatives & friends. He was very active in athletic youth programs around the world. He coached over one hundred teams in football, baseball, softball, basketball & soccer. He was also a Certified college level referee. He loved music and sports and currently was very active in golf at the Otis Golf Course and was a former member of the Cape Cod Pro AM. He served as a member of the Town of Falmouth Finance Committee for many years and was a Past Secretary of the Falmouth Men's Club. He was also a Past President of the River's Edge Association, served on the Board of Directors for the New England Ice Cream Restaurant Association and was Parishoner of Saint Anthony's Church, East Falmouth. For the Past seven years he was President and owner of the Whistlestop Ice Cream Company of Falmouth & Bourne. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters Lynn Marie Toole and her husband Patrick H. Toole of Westport, CT, Katherine Louise Walden and her husband John Walden of East Falmouth, two sons Robert H. Webster and his wife Tina Webster of Ponte Vedra, Fl and Paul Vincent Webster of Florida. He is also survived by nine grandchildren. Funeral from the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home 475 Main Street (Route 28) Falmouth on Monday March 4th at 10:30AM. Funeral Mass at 11:30AM in Saint Anthony's Church Route 28 East Falmouth. Burial will follow with Military Honors at the VA National Cemetery of Massachusetts, Bourne. Visiting hours Sunday 2-5 Pm in the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations in Robert's memory may be made to the charity of ones choice.
