Rocky Doane

Russell “ Rocky” Doane, age 74 of South Dennis, passed away Friday February 7, 2020 , from complications of an automobile accident. He was the beloved husband of Diedra “Dee” Bell Doane, who passed in 2013.

He was predeceased by both his father Russell M. Doane and mother Alice Tucker. Rocky was a native Cape Codder, born & raised in Yarmouth and attended Dennis Yarmouth High school class of 1963. After graduation he entered the Air Force and once home began his career in Auto Body. He owned and operated Northside Auto Body in Dennis for many years, mentoring and training teens from the Cape Cod Tech High School. He enjoyed hunting in Maine with his brother- in- law Bill Bell and made many lasting friendships there. He was an avid Softball player for his church softball league well into his later years.

Rocky leaves his children: Tina Donoghue and her husband Richard of Mashpee, Martin Noyes of Mashpee, Lisa Donoghue and her significant other Paul Ankuda of West Yarmouth, Traci Connors and her husband Joe of North Attleboro, and Christen St George and her husband Evan of West Yarmouth.. He was the Grandfather to 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Rocky was also “Dad” or “Bampa” to many- His “adopted daughter” Martha Storer from Harwich, his “girls” from Cape Cod Hospital, especially Kristen, Jessica & Nicole and the many foster children that he and Dee both loved unconditionally. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Doane of Dennis, and leaves behind his brothers Wade & Bruce Tucker both of Washington State and a sister Laura Deland of Idaho.

Visitation will be held Thursday February 13, 2020 from 4-7pm at Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home 58 Long Pond Dr. in South Yarmouth. Burial will be private.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Town of Dennis Fire Department 883 Main Street, West Dennis MA 02670.
