Russell W. Christmas

Russell Christmas, 85, formerly of Boston, Wareham, Baltimore, MD and Sandwich, passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 after a long illness.  He was the beloved son of the late Emmagean (Christmas) Balla and Alfred Balla.

Russell leaves a sister in Sagamore, three brothers, in California, Wareham, and Portugal.  He also leaves a son Darryl from Everett; three grandchildren, Kezia, Darryl II, and Qui’ara; and four great grandchildren, Jamari, Jason, Destinee’ and Ricardia Joy all from Georgia.  Russell also leaves several nieces and nephews.

Russell has many careers in his lifetime.  He began working at a young age bussing tables at the Pine Tree Inn in Onset, he also worked at the China Maid in Wareham.  Russell spent years working at Singer Sewing Machine Co., in Boston.  As a young man, he travelled around the country doing odd jobs and meeting many people and compiling many interesting stories which he was always ready to share with anyone who would listen.  After many years of security work for the State of Baltimore, Russell retired in 1995.

A celebration of Russell’s life will be held at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Highway (Rt. 28), Wareham on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 11 AM.  Relatives and friends may visit from 9 to 11 AM prior to the service.  Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wareham.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to VNA of Cape Cod Hospice, 434 Rte. 134, Soute D3, South Dennis, MA 02660.
