Ruth Marie (Kamp) Connaughton, resident of Harwichport, formerly of Boston and Milton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on July 6, 2018. Beloved wife of the late Richard P. Connaughton. Loving and inspiring mother to her 4 children and their spouses: Margaret and Bob Klehm, Patricia Connaughton-Burns, Joanne and Tom Storey, Rick and Mary Connaughton. Kind and encouraging grandmother of 12 incredible grandchildren. Wonderful sister to the late Joan Kamp and Joseph Kamp and to her sister-in-law Christine Kamp Seidman. Loving aunt, cousin, and friend to all she encountered and embraced in her life.
Born in Boston to Alphonse (Ike) Kamp and Margaret Fallon Kamp. She graduated from Girls Latin School, Boston Teachers College, and Tufts University. She worked in the Boston Public Schools for many years focusing on special education. After retirement she and Dick moved to their special place, Cape Cod. Here, she indulged in her lifelong passions: tutoring students, joining books clubs, playing with her bridge clubs, bird watching, and volunteering at the Audubon Society. She loved organizing trips with her grandchildren to Audubon in Wellfleet to marvel at fiddler crabs, dragon flies, sanderlings, and more. Ever the lover of humanity, she lived her life as an adventure with the people she befriended along the way.
