Samuel W. Keavy

Samuel W. Keavy, 93 of Barnstable, MA died peacefully on November 4, 2018.

He was born October 13, 1925 on Nantucket, MA to Vincent and Lisa Keavy.  He enlisted in the Navy and served honorably in WWll, in the Pacific theatre and was a proud plank owner of the destroyer escort U.S.S. Brackett.  After his naval service Sam graduated from Brown University.

Sam married Jean Russell Keavy of Milton, MA and they had four children:  Paula Keavy (Richard Brown), Lauren Ray (Gary Ray), Scott Keavy (deceased) and Allison Falkenberry (Steve Falkenberry).  They had seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Vincent Keavy.  His brother Paul and sister Mary predeceased him.

Sam had a successful career as a manager for IBM and managed their offices in several communities.  He remained true to his Cape Cod roots returning annually and ultimately retiring on the cape.  During retirement, Sam pursued his love of antiques as an antique dealer and appraiser.  He was proud of his service on the Barnstable Land Trust and love to reminisce about “old Cape Cod.”

Sam and Jean loved to travel the world and visited many places with their friends Warren and Barbara Hansen.  Sam loved baseball, poker, crossword puzzles, Lake Wequaquet, friends and family.

Plans for a memorial service will be announced at a later date. Contributions may be made to Broad Reach Hospice and Palliative Care, 390 Orleans Rd., Chatham, Ma, 02650 or the Barnstable Land Trust, 1540 Main Street, West Barnstable MA 02668.  Please honor his memory by remembering him fondly and celebrating a life well lived.
