Sandra Jean “Sandy” Petersen, or affectionately referred to as “Tink” by her husband, 62, passed away on June 5, 2017 at Falmouth Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Sandy is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Scott, of Mashpee.
Sandy was born in Mansfield, MA and is the daughter of Norman and Jean Griffin. Sandy was a lifelong Massachusetts native but considered Mashpee her home. Sandy enjoyed a newfound sense of exploration and loved riding on the back of the Harley, especially visiting the beach or new destinations, and loved more than anything riding along the coast.
Sandy was skilled at anything to do with yarn, and loved knitting and crocheting all sorts of handmade projects. Sandy was an avid baker and particularly enjoyed creating recipes in a jar that could be given as gifts or saved in the cupboard, as long as Scott didn’t eat them first. Sandy loved to watch NASCAR and even enjoyed some betting quirks with her husband while they watched the races, and was a passionate football fan, rooting for her Patriots despite the fact her husband is a Bronco’s fan. Overall, it is in the everyday activities that Sandy brightened that she will be missed the most.
In addition to her husband Scott, Sandy is survived by her son, Paul Wilson, of Sandwich, as well as her daughter, Jennifer Rimmer, of Florida. She is also survived by her eight beautiful grandchildren, her adored cats, Buster and Little Bit, as well as her most loving and supportive friend, Lisa Pasquale, and son James, of Falmouth. Sandy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. (Rte 151), Mashpee, on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 3-5 PM, on what would have been Sandy’s 63rd birthday.
“God Speed my darling Tink”.
