Scott P. Berry, of Quincy died unexpectedly in Boston on  Feb. 7, 2021  at the age of 49. Scott grew up in Wollaston and was a graduate of Quincy Vocational Technical High School, Class of 1989.  He also earned his bachelor's degree from UMASS Boston. Always a gifted craftsman, Scott was a member of Carpenters' Union Local 723 Boston. He loved working with his hands however the difficult work also lead him to pursue a career in nursing. He had earned his CNA certificate and was excited about transitioning into a new career and following his older sister's footsteps.

When Scott was not helping out one of his siblings or friends with little projects, he could be found cheering for his beloved Bruins, skiing up north, or fishing. He was known as a “hands-on” uncle who loved his nieces and nephews like they were his own children. They always considered him the “cool uncle”. In Scott’s younger years after college he traveled extensively. He backpacked around Europe staying in hostels and making new friends, visited his cousins in Ireland many times, traveled and toured Russia, and also drove cross-country (USA) with his buddies. Of all the places he visited, Galway City was amongst his favorite, as he felt connected to the heritage of his father’s birthplace. Also as a self-taught guitarist he appreciated all of the street and pub musicians.

Scott was the loving son of the late Sean “John” Berry and Sheila (Barry) Berry of Bridgewater; Loving brother of Paula J. Mellyn and her husband Eric of Bridgewater, Donna M. Berry of NY, Sean M. Berry of Pembroke, Julie A. Lynch and her husband Erick of Bridgewater, and the late Maureen J. Berry-Pihl and her husband Henry of Whitman. He was “Super Uncle” of Laura, Matthew, Kevin, Erin, Steven, Christopher, Kate, Liam, Conor, Casey, Owen, and great Uncle of Patrick and John. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Family and friends are cordially invited to the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. Bridgewater on Monday, February 15th for visiting hours from 4-7pm.
