SFC Raymond C. Tompkins

Mashpee – Raymond C. Tompkins, 78, of Mashpee, passed away at home on Monday, June 29, 2020. Son of the late Raymond and Josephine (Iannillo) Tompkins and beloved husband to the late Maureen (Torpey) Tompkins.

Born in Boston, Ray grew up in Charlestown, MA. He attended Boston area schools. He moved to Mashpee in 1974.

SFC Tompkins served over 25 years in the military. He joined the Marine Corp and served 2 tours in Vietnam. He then enlisted in the Army where he served the remainder of his career in Aviation. He received many awards including the Vietnam Service Medal. Army Commendation Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. Ray loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved golfing, reading, gardening, and was a history buff.

Raymond is survived by his son Sean Tompkins and his wife Kristin, of Sandwich; daughter Nicole DiPasquale and her husband Joseph, of Wareham; and daughter Jamie Tompkins, of Mashpee. He leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Luis Jr., Anthony, Adriana, Patrick, Margaret, and Brayden. He also leaves behind a brother Joseph Tompkins; a sister Diane Craven; and a sister Joanne Tompkins. He was predeceased by his sister Julie Laudenslager.

Raymond will be interred at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in a private ceremony.
