Susan Marie Hart

Susan Marie Hart of Harwich passed away on October 2, 2019, after a prolonged illness. Sue was born on September 21, 1948, in Oakland, California, to John Milton Hanson and Jean Elizabeth Hanson. She was predeceased by her younger sister Mary E Kilburn and her brother John P Hanson.

Sue is survived by her husband of 53 years, Walter Matthew Hart. Of Harwich.  She is also survived by their daughters Susan E and Stephenie A. of Harwich, MA, and son Matthew A. of Houston, TX.  Along with six grandchildren, Bionca, Andi, Chellsea, Evan, Sarah, Michael, Connor, and Caidon, and a great-grandson Josh; who will all miss her dearly.

Sue was an Air Force dependent, and she lived in several locations in the United States and England.

In 1966 Sue met and married her husband Matt in Hawaii, where he was Staff Sargent in the United States Marine Corps; and after tours in the Pacific, and Virginia, they moved to Harwich in 1969. Sue retired as an accountant and bookkeeper in 2008.

Sue was a loving mother, wife, a dedicated friend, a great hostess, a friendly neighbor, and an avid gardener.  She took immense pride in raising her family and helping her friends. She enjoyed traveling and especially being an active member with her friends at the Harwich Garden Club, Hyannis Yacht Club, West Dennis Yacht Club, and Allen Harbor Yacht Club for over twenty-eight years.

The reception for friends and family will be at the Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home 678 Main Street in Harwich Center, MA  508-432 6696; on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.    

The burial will be private, and instead of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sue’s name to the Harwich Garden Club or the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA.
