Sybil E. Perkins

Sybil E. (Willis) Perkins, 88, of East Bridgewater, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 11.

Born on May 31, 1928 in Brockton MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Elise (Wells) Willis.

Sybil was married to her husband, Richard Perkins, for 67 years, residing in East Bridgewater where they raised their five children.

She was the loving mother of Nancy Hickey and partner Norman McCutcheon of Barnstable, Deborah and her husband Paul Wile of East Bridgewater, Kathleen and her husband William Prime of Elmwood, her favorite son, Donald and his wife Robin Perkins of West Barnstable, and Rebecca Pearson of Walpole, NH. 

While raising her family, she was involved in the East Bridgewater Junior Women’s Club. Sybil was a 4H leader, known as, "Ma Perkins" to hundreds of 4H kids over the years. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter as well. Some of Sybil’s fondest memories include taking family vacations to campground, Dolly Copp, in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

Sybil also found time to work as a cook at the Joppa Grill, a family owned restaurant in East Bridgewater, and later at her daughter’s restaurant, Murph’s Recession on Cape Cod, where she continued to expand her ever-widening circle of good friends.

Sybil's most cherished role, and one she perfected, was that of being a grandmother and great grandmother to her ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Affectionately known as Grams Grams, Grandma Hibby and Bubbles to: Erin, Glee, Weston, Benjamin, Jeffrey, Brittany, Haley, Kelsey, Samantha, Taylor, Savannah, Olivia, Addison, Bryce, Nye, Mae, and Kyran. She will be forever missed.

Sybil is survived by her siblings: Cathlene, JoAn, Vernon, Joseph, John, and Suzanne and predeceased by her brother, Everett.

A memorial will be held at the Union Congregational Church, 105 Pleasant St. East Bridgewater, on March 11th at eleven o’clock.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the 4H Club of Plymouth County or the Union Congregational Church of East Bridgewater.
