Sylvia Vena, 83, of Overland Park, KS, formerly of Cotuit, MA passed away peacefully at Prairie Elder Care Farmstead in KS on June 15, 2019. She was born on March 10, 1936 in Boston, MA and grew up in Hyde Park, MA. She is the daughter of the late Venanzio and Agatha Giannangelo of Hyde Park, MA. She is pre-deceased by her loving husband Raphael Vena and siblings Louis, Eleanor, Joseph, Vincent, Clementina, Dominic and Elsie. She is survived by her loving daughters Deborah Gabes and husband Tim, Ann Marie Baron and husband Andrew, and Joanne Vena. Grandchildren Aaron VanHuysen and wife Casey, George Baron, Rachael Baron, and Jack Baron. Great Granddaughters Madyson and Victoria VanHuysen. Siblings Grace and Leo Giannangelo. She was a loving aunt of many nieces and nephews and will be missed by many friends. Sylvia was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and quilting. She adored her grandchildren and great granddaughters. They brought her so much joy and happiness! She was a spirited & spunky resident at Prairie Elder Care Farmstead. Her laughter and humor were contagious. She was loved by many caregivers, nurses, and staff. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Church, 3 Job’s Fishing Road, Mashpee on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11:00 am. Viewing at Chapman, Cole, and Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. (off Rt.151) in Mashpee from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Boston.
