Theresa R. Champion passed away on May 2, 2017 at Falmouth Hospital. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 72 years, Bernard S. Champion, and her beloved daughter Cathy L. Rossetti.
She is survived by three children, Linda Smith and husband Anthony of Mashpee, MA, Beverly Palermo and husband Peter of Glastonbury, CT, Raymond Champion and wife Gayle of Duncanville, TX, and Cathy Rossetti’s fiancée Frederick Brumett. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Karen and Joseph Chapuis, Peter and Patricia Palermo III, Michael and Wafaa Palermo, Samuel Champion, Bradley and Kelley Smith, Christina and Johnny Breed, Cynthia Rossetti, Cassandra and John Bartolomucci, Richard and Colleen Rosetti, Jr., and Tricia and Matthew Smith; and eight great-grandchildren, Brendan and Riley Chapuis, Anthony and Kylee Smith, Dean Palermo, Kierien Smith, Mia Palermo, and Leo Franco, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Theresa was born in Bear Creek, PA on March 3, 1923, daughter of Simon and Catherine (Feduska) Klem. She was preceded in death by her brothers George, Charles, Peter, Michael, Stephen, and John, and sisters Eva Quava, Anna Kearns, Mary Norris, and Christina Feduska. She grew up in white Haven, PA and lived in Washington, D.C., Toms River, NJ, Philadelphia, PA, King of Prussia, PA, North Andover, MA, Grafton, MA, and Centerville, MA. Her husband was a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy.
Theresa was a talented painter and seamstress and a fabulous cook. She and her husband loved to dance and play bridge. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was a kind and generous woman with a big heart who was dearly loved by all who knew her.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave. (RTE 151), Mashpee, MA. A service will follow to celebrate her life at 11:00 AM at Christ the King Chapel, 3 Job’s Fishing Road, Mashpee, MA. A private burial service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
