Thomas A. English, Jr.

Thomas A. English, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2018 at Falmouth Hospital.

Born in Boston, Thomas was the son of the late Thomas and Mary A. (O’Sullivan) English. Thomas was a Double Eagle, graduating from both BC High and Boston College. He was a showman and loved to perform for people on and off stage. He played piano, sang and was a comedian. He loved to have a good laugh and loved all the characters that he met. Tom owned bars in West Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, Quincy, Dorchester and South Boston. He was a former member of the Wollaston Golf Club and most importantly, he was a founding member of the YAZ League. Despite the loss of his voice when he was 62, he enjoyed telling a good story. Tom was a man of great faith and a daily communicant of Mass.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Marcia (Merritt) English; sons, Thomas A. English III and Timothy S. English; brother, John (Suzanne) English; and sister, Mary Anne English.

Relatives and friends are invited and may visit with Tom’s family on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy (Route 28A) West Falmouth, from 4 until 7 PM.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Agatha’s Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, MA. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, to remember Tom in a special way, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Pine Street Inn, Development Office, 444 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.
