Thomas Campbell

Thomas Campbell, formerly of Irvington, NY, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2020 at home in West Falmouth, MA. He was 92. Thomas was born on March 17, 1928 in Irvington NY to Robert G. and Bridget “Bella” (Toomey). After graduating from Irvington High School in 1945 he enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II at the age of 17. Upon his return from the war, Thomas served as a volunteer fireman in the Irvington Fire Company from 1950-1977. He worked for the NY Telephone Company until his retirement after which he worked for the Ciba-Geigy Company in Ardsley, NY. On August 29, 1958 he married Margaret “Peggy” J. Gilmore at Gilead Presbyterian Church in Carmel, N.Y. He and Peggy were long-term residents of Irvington NY, where they raised their family, and summered in Chatham MA.

He is survived by his son, Robert G. of Saunderstown, RI and partner Carin J. Ashjian of Falmouth MA, two daughters, Martha H. Gilbert and husband Gregory S. of Falmouth, MA and Margaret H. Greenberg and husband Edward L. of Pleasantville, N.Y., and four grandchildren, Greer M. and Rachel M. Gilbert and Campbell S. and Keaton K. Greenberg. Thomas was predeceased by his wife, Margaret, of 49 years, his son William G., and his siblings Robert, Martha and Helen.
