Thomas R. Gustin. It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Gustin announces his passing, at age 63, on December 24, 2017, after a brief illness. Born on December 17, 1954 to Mary and James Gustin, in Canton, Ohio. He was a graduate of Perry High School. Tom worked his way through The Ohio State University, working many summer jobs and working his way up to Student Manager of the Student Union. He graduated in 1977. Tom played on the OSU Lacrosse Team and was voted Captain. He met the love of his life, Susan, at the age of 17. They married in 1980 and had three beautiful children. Tom worked at IBM for 35 years, where he moved up the ranks to become an extraordinary leader and mentor to many. He was admired in both his professional and personal life. In 2012, he retired, moving from Andover, MA to beautiful Cape Cod. He became passionate about golf and spent many hours on the course perfecting his game. He also loved golfing with his sons, son-in-law, and grandchildren. He loved fishing, boating, biking, kayaking, going to the beach, and swimming in his pool. He shared his home and passions with his many friends and family. Tom had a passion for life like no other, was generous, loving, and kind. He lived his life with integrity and had fun wherever he was. “We’re havin’ fun now!"
He will be forever remembered by his loving wife of 37 years, Susan, and their amazing children, James Gustin of Utah, Katie Espinola (Keith- husband and friend) of Massachusetts, and Michael Gustin of Massachusetts, grandchildren Hailey, Conor, and Tyler Espinola. He is also survived by siblings, Michael (Linda) Gustin of N. Canton, Ohio, Marlane (Bill) Harris of Sherroddsville, Ohio, Linda (Leon) DeBaer of Raleigh, N. Carolina, and David (Beth) Gustin of Bexley, Ohio. And many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and James Gustin.
A service will be held on Saturday, January 6th at 12 noon at Chapman Cole & Gleason in Mashpee, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s name to JimmyFund.org, WoundedWarriorProject.org, or FalmouthServiceCenter.org.
