Viola L Murphy, 83, of East Bridgewater passed away peacefully on April 12 surrounded by her family.
Married in October 1955 to her beloved husband, Richard Murphy of Hyde Park. Viola was the loving daughter of the late Ralph and Adeline (Memmo) Melito and grew up in Hyde Park. She was a graduate of Hyde Park High School, Class of 1952. Their three children were raised in Hyde Park and the couple relocated to East Bridgewater in 1998. Viola was a loving Mom and grandmother, a great cook, who especially enjoyed family gatherings and events. Her bright smile, kindness, compassion, and generosity, touched the lives of family, friends, and acquaintances. After many years as a homemaker, Viola returned to the workforce at Star Market as a cashier. She often had the longest checkout line as many customers enjoyed her unique and personal way of interacting with them. Viola will always be remembered for her unconditional love. Viola was a member of the St. Anthony’s Society in Readville.
Devoted mother of Cheryl A. Murphy of Abington, John R. Murphy and his wife Karen of Mansfield, and Lorraine T. Donovan and her husband Timothy of Foxboro. Loving “Mimi” of Domenic, Danielle, Jacquelyn, Christopher, Kevin, Michelle, and Brian. Sister of Lillian Ippolito of Mansfield and the late Loretta Mitchell of Canton. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends are cordially invited to the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 35 Spring St. East Bridgewater on Tues. April 17th for a visitation period from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30pm at St. John’s Church, 210 Central St. East Bridgewater followed by a burial at Central Cemetery.
