Virginia M. Murphy

Virginia M. “Ginny” Murphy, 90, of Falmouth, formerly of Waltham, passed away on May 29, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Francis J. Murphy, Jr. for 39 years. Born in Boston to Edward and Margaret (Donahue) Connors on June 21, 1929.

She was an Emmanuel College graduate and worked as a social worker. She also worked in banking and for Falmouth Housing until the age of 85. She was active with Emmanuel College Club, the MBTA Retirees, the Falmouth Senior Center and other social groups. Ginny was a diehard Red Sox fan. She loved the movies, theater and travelling.

Ginny is survived by her children:  Stephen Murphy and his wife Olympia (“Fe”) of Santa Maria CA, Sean Murphy of Falmouth and Andrea Murphy of Waltham; 2 grandchildren and extended family and friends.

A private funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick Church, followed by burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel College, 400 Fenway, Boston MA  02115 (Emmanuel.edu) or to St. Patrick Church, 511 Main St, Falmouth MA  02540.
