MASHPEE—William Almeida III, Bill, 57, of Mashpee and formerly of Falmouth, passed away on March 1, 2019 in Hyannis, MA.
Bill was born and raised in Falmouth, MA. He attended Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, where he discovered his love of carpentry, and was a decorated baseball and soccer player. He served in the U.S. Air Force after graduation. After serving in the military, Bill became a Road Salesman for Falmouth Lumber, a career he was devoted to, and loved, for over 30 years. At the same time, Bill was an active member of his community. He was a proud member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Anthony's Parish. In prior years, Bill enjoyed coaching his daughter's youth soccer and softball teams, and serving on advisory boards for Upper Cape Tech and the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Cape Cod. He was awarded the 2014 "Legend of the Industry" award by the Home Builders Association of Massachusetts. Bill also loved to compete. More accurately, Bill loved to win, and he was thankful to be a Patriots fan. Bill played in various Cape Cod softball leagues for 30+ years and ran the Falmouth Road Race annually. For the last 2 years, he worked at the New Seabury Country Club and enjoyed playing golf there any chance he could get. Bill was also a thrill seeker, and his "bucket list" was filled with activities like skydiving, which was one he checked off right away.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mary L. Almeida; daughter, Molly Rose Almeida of Mashpee and her fiancé, Juan Charry Steevens of Peabody, MA; siblings, Richard (Annie) Almeida, Steven (Bonnie) Almeida, Judith (Mark) Doucette, Linda (Serge) Romanyszyn, Mary Jean (Kurt) Finlayson and Phyllis Breeze; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
