William “Bill” Crocker

William “Bill” Crocker

William “Bill” Loring Crocker Sr., 83, of Marstons Mills, MA passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife Lois Crocker of 62 years.  He will be dearly missed and survived by his sons William Jr., Robert and Bruce, their wives Judith, Patricia and Kimberly, his grandchildren Michael and Jessica, his brothers David, Alfred and Richard and sister Constance.

Bill was born in Barnstable in 1935 to parents John and Mary Crocker of Barnstable. He graduated from Barnstable High School in 1954. After graduation he worked for his father at JH Crocker and Sons Grocery of West Barnstable. He married Lois (Beals) Crocker in 1956. Bill, Lois and their three sons lived in West Barnstable until 1975 before moving to Marstons Mills where they have lived since.

He worked for the Barnstable County Facilities Department for 44 years and retired in 2000. The great-grandson of Charlie Hinkley, lighthouse keeper of Bishop and Clerks Lighthouse in Nantucket Sound, Bill continued family tradition as a member of the Sandy Neck Lighthouse Preservation Society where he helped to restore Sandy Neck Lighthouse. He was also a member of the Marstons Mills Civic Association. A jack of all trades, he enjoyed carpentry in his spare time. Never one to shy away from helping those in need, he had a heart as big as his tool collection.

Bill enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots and spending time with his family. Some of his best time in retirement was spent with his two grandchildren who knew him as “Bumpa.” He will be missed but never forgotten.

Memorial Service will be held at Crocker Park Cemetery on November 10th at 11AM. All are welcome to attend.
