William M. Dundon III, 72, of Mashpee, passed away on December 30, 2019 at the Royal of Cotuit Nursing Home in Mashpee. He was the beloved husband of Karen L. (Cahill) Dundon for 39 years. He was the son of the late William M. Dundon Jr. and Florence (MacDougall) Dundon.
Bill was born and raised in Boston, Mass. He grew up there with his parents and large extended family on Centre Street in Jamaica Plain. He spent all his childhood summers with family at his grandmother’s Cape house in West Yarmouth where his love for the Cape and the ocean developed and lasted his lifetime.
Upon graduating from Catholic Memorial High School in 1965, Bill followed in his parents’ footsteps and attended St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. It was there where he met many of his lifelong friends. After university, Bill began his career with Pepperidge Farm, Inc. He was promoted and transferred to California where he met his future wife, Karen, in 1978. They later moved to Denver, CO where Bill became a sales manager for Cobe Laboratories.
Although Bill was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at age 40, he never let it get in his way of enjoying his family or friends. His quick wit made everyone laugh and enjoy themselves in his presence. He was an avid sports fan, rooting for all his favorite home town teams.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Bryant Dundon and granddaughter JuliAnn Dundon, both of Mashpee.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, Jan. 11th, at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 E. Falmouth Hwy (Route 28) in East Falmouth. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org.
