William Patrick Murphy

1928 ∼ 2017

William Patrick Murphy, 89, of Chatham, formerly of Weymouth and Dorchester, died December 4, 2017.  He was the husband of Pearl (Hines) Murphy to whom he was married 68 years.

Mr. Murphy served in the US Navy during World War II, and was a proud plank owner of the USS Hamner DD718

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Kevin and Kathleen Murphy of Plymouth, Kenneth Murphy of Weymouth, and Karen and Peter Tessicini of Mashpee; grandchildren, Ryan, Erin, Shannon, Alison, Bridget, William, Ryan, Meghan, and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Colton, John, Avery and James; and brother-in-law of Donald and Mary Kay Hines of Easton. 

Visiting hours will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6th in Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 74 Algonquin Ave (at Route 151), Mashpee.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 7th at Christ the King Church, Job’s Fishing Rd, Mashpee, followed by burial with military honors at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Animal Rescue League, 3981 Main Street, Brewster, MA 02631.
